Introduction To NDA Exam
National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is the entrance test for the aspirants who are willing to join for joint defence services, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administrates this exam every year. Selected candidates of the 3 services are given training by the Institute of Indian Armed Forces together before they move into their respective service for further pre-commission training. NDA exam is conducted twice a year in 2 stages, written exam and SSB (Service Selection Board) interview. The candidates who qualify in the written exam will have eligibility for appearing SSB interview for intelligence and personality test.

UPSC will shortlist the candidates for the SSB interview and eligible candidates will be called for the SSB interview.

Candidates who are eligible for SSB interviews will have to undergo a 2-stage selection process, I and II. Only those who clear the Stage I process are allowed to appear for the Stage II process in the SSB interview.

NDA exam paper consists of all objective type questions. The question papers will be set in English and Hindi language. For every wrong answer, 1/3rd marks will be deducted. Candidates should use only a black ball pen to mark in the OMR sheet.
NDA Exam Qualification
Candidates need to qualify for all the criteria before applying for the exam.
1. Nationality
- Must be a citizen of India.
2. Age Limit
- The maximum age limit for the exam is 18.7 and the minimum age limit is 15.7 years.
3. Educational Qualifications
- For Army Wing: 12th Pass.
- For Air Force and Naval Wings: 12th pass with physics, chemistry and maths.
4. Physical Standards
- Candidates must qualify the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy.
