Introduction to K-12 Level

K-12 basic education can be divided into 4 levels. Kindergarten, the primary school from grade 1-7, high school from grade 8-10, and pre-university 11 and 12. The levels are organized to set the curriculum in a systemic way considering the age group of children and the learning capacity of the children. At the primary school level, learning topics will be introduced briefly and as the grades progress, the learning topics will be geared up so that students are well prepared to join college university or to get employment or set their profession.

Different K-12 Levels

Given below table shows different K-12 levels:

			Science	Basic science, living and non-living things.
			Social	Family, community, historical persons, culture, Government bodies, human rights, etc.
			PT	Mass PT and sports.
			Skill-oriented	Music, drawing, fine arts, etc.
High School	14y-16y	VIII grade to X grade	Languages	Mother tongue with an option of second and third language as per student choice.
			Maths	Algebra, arithmetic, geometry.
			Science	Physics, chemistry, biology, computer science.
			Social	History, geography, civil, economics.
			PT	Sports and PE.
			Skill-oriented	Music, drawing, fine arts, etc.
PUC	17y-18y	I PUC and II PUC	Languages	English and other languages of student’s choice.
			Science	PCMB, PCMC, PCME. (P- Physics, C-chemistry, M- Math, E- electronics, C- computer science).
			Arts	HESPs, HELS, ESPsPsy, ELSPsy HEGPs. (H-History, E- economics, S – sociology, Ps – political science, L- literature, Psy- Psychology, G- Geography).
			Commerce	CEBA, MEBA, HEBA, SEBA (S – statistics, E – economics, C – computer science, M- maths, B- business studies, A- accountancy, H-history).
			Other activities	Skill development activities (NCC, national-level competitions).

K-12 Primary Education

• Primary education is a fundamental right for all children.
• After kindergarten, the first stage of regular schooling starts as primary school.
• Students will learn reading and writing, basic mathematics, and understanding of the subjects along with other skills.
• Children are encouraged to attend school.
• Primary education is the foundation for children for their intellectual, physical, social development.

K-12 Secondary Education

• The second phase of basic education is secondary education.
• Topics taught in primary school will be enhanced in secondary school and also subjects broaden and deep knowledge will be given for the students.
• Students in this phase will be more capable of decision making, they are guided to choose the path which they want to pursue.
• Along with academics, skill development is also focused on this phase.
• Student counseling for the overall development of students in terms of personal, social, career development, etc., will be given by expertise.
• Secondary school students will get thorough knowledge about all subjects after this phase, they will study only specialized subjects which they opted for PUC.
