Introduction To Railway Group D Exam
The following article provides an outline for Railway Group D Exam. RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) is the department under the Government of India that recruits employees (Group C and Group D non gazetted civil service) to work in Indian Railway. Every year close to 50 Lakh – 1 crore candidates apply for RRB exams to work in one of the world’s largest railway systems and be part of it. But the hard part is that there are only a few vacancies present to fill up the seats.

RRB Group D

Group D Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for Group D consists of:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Document Verification (DV)
1. Computer-Based Test
This exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions of each 1 mark. The wrong answer is penalized with 0.33 marks. After the CBT, candidates will be called for physical efficiency test based on the merit list. The merit list will be created based on the number of vacancies and usually, it is 3 times the number of vacancies.

- General Science (25 Questions)
- General Awareness and Current Affairs (20 Questions)
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (30 Questions)
2. Physical Efficiency Test
PET is qualifying in nature. So, marks in this round will not be considered for selection.
PET pattern is different for males and females.
For Males:
- Candidates need to lift 35Kg weight for 100m in 2 minutes without putting it down.
- Candidates need to run for 1Km in 4:15 minutes on the first attempt.
For Females:
- Candidates need to lift 20Kg weight for 100m in 2 minutes without putting it down.
- Candidates need to run for 1Km in 5:40 minutes on the first attempt.
3. Document Verification
Once the final merit list is released, the candidates need to verify their documents like caste certificates, education certificates, etc. Once it is done, candidates will be followed with a medical test and they will be on board for Indian Railways. Candidates shortlisted will be equal to the number of posts available.
