Introduction To CAT Exam
The following article provides an outline for CAT Exam Fees. CAT or Common Admission Test, is a mandatory entrance test for MBA or PGDM programs in more than 20 IIMs and 1200 leading business schools in India. CAT is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management on a rotational basis every year. IIM Indore conducted the test last year. As it is a computer-based test, the nature of the question paper is designed such that it contains MCQs and non-MCQs. Management courses are popular among the youth for securing a shining career. MBA is one of the hottest degrees accredited by companies also. So, many students look MBA as a career option for them. Scoring qualifying scores in CAT is a mandatory step for taking admission for MBA.
CAT exam is conducted on computer-based structure and consists of three sections:
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Candidates can select up to 6 cities as CAT Exam center choice, also slots are increased from 2 to 3.
Now slots are:
- Slot 1: 8.30 AM to 10.30 AM
- Slot 2: 12.30 PM to 2.30 PM
- Slot 3: 4.30 PM to 6.30 PM

CAT Exam Eligibility
As CAT is the gateway for MBA or PGDM courses, the minimum qualification criteria are graduation.
The detailed eligibility criteria are:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any recognized university. The minimum marks condition is lowered to 45% for SC, ST, PWD/DA category.
- Final year undergraduate students or students waiting for results are also eligible for CAT application.
- Students from the engineering stream should hold BTech. or B.E. degree with a minimum of 50% recognized by MHRD or AICTE. (45% for SC, ST, PWD candidates)
CAT Exam Date
The confirmed date for CAT Exam 2021 will be released by IIM in July 2021.
