Introduction To Railway Exam Eligibility
The following article provides an outline for Railway Exam Eligibility. RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) is the department under the Government of India that recruits employees (Group C and Group D non gazette civil service) to work in Indian Railway. Every year close to 50 Lakh -1 crore candidates apply for RRB exams to work in one of the world’s largest railway systems and be part of it. But the hard part is that there are only a few vacancies present to fill up the seats.
Different types of exams conducted by RRB are:

Eligibility Criteria For RRB Exams
Eligibility criteria for RRB exams will be of 3 types:
- Nationality
- Age Limit
- Educational Qualifications
- Medical Qualifications
#1. Nationality
- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- The subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st Jan 1962 and settled in India permanently.
- An Indian who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam permanently settled in India.
#2. Age Limit
- The age limit for appearing for RRB exams (NTPC, Group D, and JE) will be 18 to 33 years, and for RRB ALP age limit will be 18-28 years.

#3. Educational Qualifications
RRB NTPC:
- For graduation post: Need degree certificate
- For undergraduate post: Need 12th certificate with 50%
RRB Group D:
- Candidates need to have a Class 10th certificate or ITI from a recognized university.
RRB JE: Need to have 3 year’s diploma in the technical field.
- JE: Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/ Production/ Automobile / Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering/ Control/ Tools & Machining/ Tools & Die Making/ Computer Science or BSC in Civil engineering.
- DMS: 3 years diploma from a recognized university.
- JE (IT): Need to have B.Tech/ B.Sc/ BCA in computer science or equivalent from a recognized university.
- CMA: Degree in science with physics and chemistry with min 55%.
RRB ALP:
- Candidates must have passed 10th /SSLC and should have completed ITI or diploma/degree in engineering/ apprentices/ 10th 2 with physics and maths.
4. Medical Qualifications
Candidates need to qualify for the medical test to fill in the vacancies. Candidates need to be physically fit in all respects. Along with physical fitness, visual tests will also be conducted. These will be different for different posts.
