You need a strategy for your preparation which you can adopt. We must know that each one has his/her capabilities one can finish a chapter in 10 minutes for the other it can take more than 1 hour or a day also. Let me be clear it’s okay to be slow but you need to be consistent and keep it up. You are not losing anything when preparing but you are learning and gaining something. Yes, it’s slow but worth it. We will be discussing strategies; you can adopt the one which fits best to you. In the end, it’s you who will prepare.
What Is NEET Exam?
NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and is conducted by NTA (National Test Agency). NEET is the sole test for entrance into the MBBS or BDS courses in India. This exam is conducted once a year (Aspirants have demanded that the exam must be conducted twice a year and the Health Ministry is looking into this). NEET is held at around 150 centers all around India. Each year 1.5 million candidates appear for the exam.
When To Start Your NEET Preparation?
Before you start to make a strategy you shall know when your exam is. Generally, it takes place in the month of June. So you need to prepare in such a way that you would be able to cover all syllabus well before the exam.
It’s better to have a one to two-year period dedicated to preparing for the exam. Well, it doesn’t mean you have to take the drop, it’s just you can start from your class 11th itself. Or if you are late you can start from class 12th too. Because in class 11th one figures out a lot about elementary things so maybe some won’t be able to set NEET as a target. But once you do make consistent progress.
Some suggest from class 10 you shall start preparing but I personally find it, choosing your career that early is not good. You would mostly be learning the basics of subjects and forming your opinions. It’s better to start after the 10th standard only.
How To Check Your Progress?
Once you know when to start preparing for the exam the next thing will be to assess your progress your daily/weekly and monthly progress. When preparing it comes down to three subjects Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
As each one of us has our own strengths and weaknesses, looking into that the strategy goes like this. You got to answer a total of 180 questions which represents 720 Marks. You get 4 for each right answer and -1 for the wrong answer.
1. Find out which subject is hard for you and how much does it weigh in the exam.
Subject | Questions | Marks |
Physics | 45 | 180 |
Chemistry | 45 | 180 |
Biology(Botany Zoology) | 90 | 360 |
2. Break down the subject syllabus in a way that suits best to you. Initially spend more time on hard subjects. let’s say easy subject (2hours), medium-hard (3 hours) and for hard one put (4 hours) each day. You have got to put 8-9 hours a day suck it.
3. Now to check your progress give tests each weekend to see where you are for each chapter of the subject.
