Introduction To SSAT vs ISEE

The following article provides an outline for SSAT vs ISEE. SSAT and ISEE are aptitude tests for seeking admission to private school. The admission committee standardizes two exams, SSAT and ISEE: elementary school, middle school, and high school. The ISEE test is conducted by the Educational Records Bureau whereas SSAT is governed and controlled by EMA.

SSAT (Secondary Schools Admission Test)

This exam has three levels that assess the student’s abilities to attend admission in school.

• Elementary (Grade 4-5)
• Middle (Grade 6-8)
• Upper (Grade 9-12)

SSAT evaluates students verbal skills, math skills, and reading skills. The main goal behind SSAT is students will be successful in an independent school in the United States.

ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination)

This exam has four levels that help the committee in the admission process.

• Primary (Grade 2-4)
• Lower (Grade 5-6)
• Middle (Grade 7-8)
• Upper (Grade 9-12)

For SSAT and ISEE test content has the following sections:

• Maths
• Verbal section
• Reading section
• Reading and writing skills

Most schools have a preference for one of two exams.

The main difference between both entrance exams is as the following:

SSAT	ISEE
This exam offers eight times a year.	This exam has more test options, one in every six months.
For incorrect answers ¼ penalize.	Any wrong answers are not penalized.
Get three scores, as a math score combined with a single number.	Get a score for each of the four sections individually.
Students must choose between creative writing prompt at the middle level and creative, expository prompt at the upper level.	Requires to write an expository essay.
In the verbal section, ask an analogy question.	In the verbal section, ask complete sentence-type questions.
In reading, the section includes poetry and older-style literature.	Reading section includes contemporary passages.
In math’s SSAT has two quantitative sections one is knowledge-based questions and the second one critical thinking.	Quantitative reasoning problem-solving higher-level thinking. Mathematics questions on basic knowledge.

SSAT And ISEE Test Preparation

• In the SSAT and ISEE in test preparation, most of the areas are the same. If students prepare for one test, the syllabus for another covers it.
• Before the final exam, students do a practical test on both, which helps make a decision about which test is better for admission.
• Paper-based SSAT offer at school and test centers.
• ISEE can conduct computer-based or paper-based in school and ISEE offices.
• ISEE exam conducted three times in a year (august-november), (december-march), and april-july).
• The SSAT can take eight times. Five times at home every Saturday, and one Sunday in each month. Two times-Prometric centers and once -flex site.
• Students start their preparation before six months of the test.
• Take a full-length practice test which is helpful to know test type, style, difficulty level, and content of the test.
• More attempt on practical tests knows about strengths and weak study areas. Students can focus on weak areas and learn skills to more practice.
• Building vocabulary and read comprehension are very helpful in preparation for both exams.
